Polarbear started with a simple observation from years of tutoring Victorian students: the tools students actually use every day weren't built for them. We build study tools we wished we had — free where they can be free, honest about what they can and can't tell you.

How we verify our data
Where our numbers come from
Every ATAR, scaling and cutoff figure on this site is traced to an official published source — VTAC (Victoria), UAC (NSW) and QTAC (Queensland). Exam timetables come from the exam authorities — VCAA, NESA and QCAA. Pages cite the exact report they draw from.
What we refuse to publish
If an authority doesn't publish a number, neither do we. That's why there's no "HSC ATAR calculator" here — UAC doesn't release the data that would make one honest — and why our tools say "indicative" where they mean it.
How we keep it current
As each authority publishes its new report — VTAC and UAC from December, QTAC in the new year — we re-verify and re-stamp the affected data pages for the year ahead.

Where we use AI (and where we don't)
Polarbear is an AI company: our app uses AI for tutoring, essay feedback and study sessions, fronted by our Snowbies characters. But the data on this site — scaling tables, cutoffs, dates — is never AI-generated: every published figure is transcribed and verified by a human against the official source it cites.

Polarbear AI Pty Ltd is an Australian company based in Melbourne. Our free tools are aligned to the official state curricula (VCE, HSC, QCE), our data comes from the admissions authorities themselves, and our privacy policy explains exactly how we handle student information.
